Acolytes Guild

The Altar Guild's
The Altar Guild's duties are to serve God at His Altar in holiness and humbleness. We are committed to our duties and perform them diligently. We set God's table every Saturday in readiness for the Holy Eucharist on Saturday evening and Sunday morning. Our duties include setting up for mass, baptisms and weddings, as well as taking care of the linens that are used for the above occasions. We wash and iron the linens that are used and we take care of the vessels that are used by washing, polishing and keeping them in readiness for God's altar. We also decorate the church for Christmas and Easter

Choirs:
Chinese language choir
The St. George's Chinese Choir is comprised of members in the Chinese congregation. These volunteer members represent men and women from many different backgrounds and ages. Brought together by faith and their love for singing they meet every Sunday morning at 11:45 to practice the hymnals for that service. Using hymnal music created centuries ago theybring out the dedication and enthusiasm of serving Christ to its summit. By performing beautiful music together, these Christians understand each other, themselves, and God on a different level.
English language choir
English language choir provides choral music for the English language Eucharist on Sundays from mid September through Trinity Sunday, as well as for Feast and Penitential days throughout the year. The choir gathers at 9 a.m. each Sunday to finish preparing for that day, and rehearses after services for one hour. Membership is open to all, and may be arranged by speaking to Barry S. G. Kloda, the Organist and Choirmaster.

Chinese Fellowship

Docents Guild
Docents Guild members sit in the church Monday through Thursday during the hours of 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to welcome and answer questions for those who wish to meditate or pray.

Hospitality group
Hospitality group meets and greets visitors on various occasions, and is divided into three categories (because of cultural differences): English, Asian, Hispanic. However, for functions we unite and work together as one. We are able to experience and enjoy our multi-cultural relationship. We are called upon to assist in many church functions: baptisms, marriages, funerals and fellowship after Sunday services and whenever called upon.

Intercessory Prayer Group
meets every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at St. Georges. The focus of the Group is on intercessory prayers and bible study. Members of the three congregations of St. George's Church are encouraged to participate in this ministry.

Lay Eucharistic Ministry: Lay Eucharistic Ministers (LEMs)
Lay Eucharistic Ministers share in the administration of the chalice at regular celebrations of the Holy Eucharist (Communion). Licensed Lay Eucharistic Ministers also visit and take the consecrated sacraments, at the request of the clergy, to members of the parish who are sick or shut-in.

Outreach Committee
Outreach Committee, established by the Vestry in 2006, serves to hold before the Parish Jesus' words: "I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me. Truly I say to you, as long as you did it for one of the least of these, you did it for me." The Outreach Committee welcomes all ideas and ways that the people of St. George's may share in the work of the gospel beyond the parish through the annual budget; and asks the prayers of the parish as it voices advocacy for special needs in the community.

Parish Life Committee
Parish Life Committee, recently established, plans and executes events to encourage participation of all members of the church's diverse congregation. These are not fundraisers, but instead provide an opportunity for us to enjoy the fellowship of our fellow parishioners, and to enhance the practice of our Shared Values through open communication.

The Service League
The Service League was established in 1929 by a group of retired women who volunteered their time and talent for the purpose of raising funds for the church.

The Boutique Thrift Shop
The Boutique Thrift Shop is run by members of the Service League and was established by them in 1994. All marketable inventory is provided by donations from the community.

St. George's Brotherhood
St. George's Brotherhood is an organization comprising the men of the church. Its three primary purposes are:
1. Propagation of the Christian faith to youth, the surrounding community and the nation at large through its activities
2. Assistance to the sick, needy (widows and orphans) and mentoring of youth in the community
3. Attending to the grounds and physical chores required to keep the church running.

St. George's Ladies
St. George's Ladies, a group of working and retired women, came into being in 1993 for the purpose of enlivening our Church family.
Our goal is to interact culturally, focus on youth, and engage in fundraising activities in support of our Church building restoration. We welcome all women of the Church family. Our meetings are held on the second Sunday of the month to exchange ideas, plan and future programs. Our group has had many successes over the years, so come ladies, join us and let your voice be heard.

The Stewardship Committee
The Stewardship Committee strives to bring to the realization of the parish that each person is a steward, embodied with many gifts in the form of our time, talent and treasure. By practicing good stewardship, we express our gratitude to God for the gifts he has entrusted to us. Being a good steward is being a grateful an committed steward.

Sunday School
St. George's Sunday School Program was started in 2002. It began with only a few children, and increased gradually in numbers. Eventually this class branched into two groups, youth and children. The Children's Sunday School is comprised of children between the ages of 5 through 11, taught by Kaiti Liao, Kaity Chang, and June Xie. Weekly activities include singspiration, bible stories, arts and crafts, and bible games. Occasionally the children are invited to perform in church with songs such as Peace Like a River and Go Tell It On the Mountain. The Youth Sunday School Program is made up of youth teens from the ages of 12 through 15. Josephine Lu and Tim Xie are teachers of this group. Activities include studying the bible, inspirational sharing, and arts and crafts. The youth group occasionally takes class trips outside of church as a way of bonding in Christ. This December they will also be performing a Christmas play on the Nativity of Christ. Both the Children and Youth Sunday Schools meet every Sunday at 11:45.

The Vestry
The Vestry is the elected lay leadership of our Parish. It is entrusted with the temporal affairs of the church, tasked to work with financial aspects of church life, work with the rector and other lay leaders on program, mission and evangelism for the good of the church locally, regionally and nationally. It functions as a "trustee" body, making sure the best interests of the local church are being managed on a regular basis. As trustees, they carry out a set of legal mandates as officers of a chartered corporation; and to be the decision-makers of a congregation that is committed not only to preservation of a physical institution but engagement in ministry and mission that is constantly changing.
